Designed as its name indicates in 1937 by Xavier Pauchard, this chair was designed in response to the tender of the Universal Exhibition of 1937. It was among the 12,000 chairs and sofas Tolix, installed on 100 hectares of “Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la vie moderne.”
Back in the cultural heritage of France, the chair of 37, alongside Prouvé furniture, was scheduled to end 2007 at the Pompidou Center under the Beaubourg retrospective devoted to the Universal Exhibition of 1937 and joined in 2006 collections of the National Furniture.
Tolix Steel Design revived production in 2008.
